Apple has been doing a very bad job in secret-keeping after Steve Jobs left. Just as iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were announced with no surprise, matching all the previous rumors and leaks, the upcoming iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 are also revealed to the public, with a slew of spy shots and hands-on video circulating on the Internet.
From the shots and reviewing video, it can be seen that iPad mini 2 looks exactly like its predecessor, with almost no changed in appearance, even no reduction in the thickness, very rare to see for a follow-up. The reason for the same thickness might be that iPad mini 2 will come with a Retina Display.
Of course, as a new device, iPad mini 2 will be packed with a faster processor, possibly an A6X or A7 chipset. There are also good possibilities of bump in camera despite that iPad mini already has a 5MP primary lens. The major issue focuses on the display. There are two views: one is that iPad mini 2 will come with a Retina display to narrow the discrepancy with the rivals and another one is that Apple will launch two versions of iPad mini 2: low-priced version to come out earlier and Retina version to be postponed in the early 2014.
As for iPad 5, it is within expectation that there is apparent decrease in volume and the narrow bezel makes the devices feel much slimmer. All in all, iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 looks much similar and the only different in appearance might be the size.
